Tasks and Responsibilities Include:

  • Analysis of contract details and assessment of any risks
  • Fully assessing total cost of project (incorporating all aspects, labour/materials etc.)
  • Creating a realistic timeline that fits the expected completion date of the project
  • Comparing and determining the best prices from suppliers
  • Use bid software to complete the estimate for presentation to the Chief Estimator and management inclusive of all labour, equipment, and material data, pricing documentation, overhead and profit margins
  • Prepare final document in-line with expectations for submission
  • Manage key internal and external stakeholders on all matters related to the bid (vendors/suppliers etc.)
  • Always be mindful of risks, not only at initial stage but throughout bid process

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in heavy civil projects, ideally bridge related
  • 5+ years of experience in construction with a background in an Estimator role
  • Clear communication skills
  • Experience working with bid software

Job Summary

Our growing Lenders' Services/Loan Monitoring Team has an immediate need for a Senior Project Loan Monitor based out of our office in Montreal. As a Senior Project Loan Monitor, you will play an integral role in the continued growth of our Lenders' Services/Project Monitoring Team within the Montreal market and across Canada.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct and complete site inspections including photographs;
  • Prepare and submit invoices, claims for progress payments, valuation of changes and analysis of progress and recommendation;
  • Establish spatial analysis for a sector of buildings;
  • Prepare budget reviews through detailed analysis of development proposals and build up budget;
  • Assisting with continuous business development activities;
  • Supporting in the preparation of proposals;
  • Networking regularly to promote the business, cross-selling and building new client relationships and;
  • Supporting the coordination of workload and team members

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven strategic thinker;
  • Passion for business development and managing client relationships; and
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Education and Experience

  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience;

Job Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will join our high-rise division and to work on multiple projects in Vancouver, BC.

Roles and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Performs accurate, thorough and timely quantity takeoffs for all systems for all levels of project documents (schematic, design development and, construction documents).
  • Manages multiple projects concurrently with ability to multitask.
  • Obtains clarification on plans and specifications from architects and engineers when necessary.
  • Will assist the project management team in soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and vendor pricing input.
  • Develops unit costs accurately.
  • Considers and understands problems, and identifies appropriate solutions.
  • Develops knowledge in building designs, systems and construction materials through available resources and uses this knowledge in guiding the owner to a viable project.
  • Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload. Proficient in all computer software programs used in pre-construction.
  • Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
  • The majority of the work is completed in an office setting at the main office.
  • Periodic meetings at off-site locations may occur.

Skills and Competencies

Preferred Experience:

  • Possess good organizational and management skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to develop new skills and knowledge quickly.
  • Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years of pre-construction/estimating experience on commercial construction projects. Knowledgeable in all of the following building project residential components: civil/site work, foundation and structural systems, interior finishes, exterior wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems and the costs of these systems.
  • Must be able to operate as a standalone estimator able to handle complete projects if required.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to use estimating software, word processing, spread sheets, bid management, online plan rooms and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
