Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveyor or a similar Construction Management degree with an emphasis on estimating from an accredited institution
  • Fifteen or more years experience as an estimator involved with a major general contractor or cost consulting company
  • Working knowledge of such programs and tools as Microsoft Word, Excel, and OnScreen take-off is required

  • Take part in receiving the prices form subcontractors as well as their analysis and participate in closing project bids with the designated individuals;
  • Make sure of what the amount quoted by the suppliers and subcontractors covers. Also, check for their compliance with bid document requirements upon compilation and bid closings.

DO YOU HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS?

  • DEC (diploma of college studies) in civil engineering technology or architecture or equivalent experience;
  • 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience in estimating commercial and institutional projects for a general contractor in construction;
  • Good knowledge in excavation and formwork;
  • Knowledge of OST and Timberline software considered an asset;

  • PQS, and / or AÉECQ qualification. Member of RICS and / or CIQS and / or AÉECQ;
  • Ongoing maintenance of CPD (Continuing Professional Development);
  • Knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement (elemental/trade), Provincial Lien Act and Standard contract conditions – CCDC) and LEED®;
  • Extensive knowledge of the construction industry including development, contracting and consulting sectors;
