BREAKING NEWS! Congress 2020 cancelled due to COVID-19
Due to the severe and fluid impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our way of life and the economy, the CIQS National board of directors has voted to cancel Congress 2020.
This was not an easy decision as Congress is our largest event of the year, where members from coast to coast and beyond have the opportunity to network, learn and have their voice heard. In the months since this pandemic started, we have been monitoring the global situation and weighed every option available for how to best move forward with Congress 2020.
Based on the potential of continued extensions of provincial and territory emergency measures past the end of May, the current financial climate and rumours of travel restrictions (government and/or employer) that can last until the end of the summer or beyond, the Board felt that cancelling Congress 2020 was in the best interest of the organization and our members.
We will, however, host a virtual annual general meeting (AGM) and the CIQS Year in Review towards the end of July 2020. We will be using an advanced virtual voting platform to properly record everyone’s votes during the AGM and we encourage all members and stakeholders to attend this free two-hour webinar session. An AGM notice will be distributed closer to the date.
As for Congress, we have secured the same space at Delta Winnipeg for next year and we look forward to welcoming you all to Winnipeg for Congress 2021. We hope to make next year’s event our largest and strongest Congress ever. Let’s all get together in Winnipeg in July 2021 in celebration of surviving the pandemic’s hardships. Stronger Than Ever – Together!
