CIQS-British Columbia is pleased to announce that we have confirmed Rick Boates, President of Unitech Construction Management Ltd, as our 2016 Annual General Meeting and Dinner speaker! The AGM will be followed by dinner, Rick Boates presentation and a social evening for members and guests.

About the Speaker

Rick Boates, AScT, GSC, LEED AP

Rick Boates AScT, GSC, LEED AP

Rick founded Unitech Construction Management Ltd. in 1988. He acquired a Diploma in Building Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in June 1972. He is a Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certified Project Manager and a Member of the Applied Science Technologist and Technicians of British Columbia, as well as the British Columbia Building Envelope Council.

Prior to forming Unitech Rick was with Killick Metz Bowen Rose Architects Planners Inc. in Vancouver, as Manager of Construction Administration, for twelve years. Rick also spent two years as a Building Inspector with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, four years with Allen / Ewing Architects, Vancouver and one year with Paine & Associates Architects, Vancouver.

Notice of Nomination

In accordance with the Rules & Regulations of the Society, the Board of Directors of the Society shall consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and four (4) additional Directors. The total number of Board Directors is regulated at eight (8) members.

At each Annual General Meeting Directors are elected for a three (3) year term, or for the balance of a term, as the case may be. Those Directors whose terms of office are expiring shall retire from office.

In order to fulfill the requirements of the Rules & Regulations, two (2) new Board of Directors are required. Any Qualified Member may be nominated for the positions of Director, provided they are a Qualified Member in good standing.

Nominations for the Board of Directors and Officers of the Society will be accepted in writing until 4:30 pm, May 9th, 2016 at the registered offices of CIQS BC:

The order of business at the Annual General Meeting shall be:

  • Registration
  • Call to order, quorum, introductions
  • Approval of agenda
  • Approval of minutes of 2015 Annual General Meeting

  • Review and approval of financial statements and auditor’s report
  • Appointment of the auditor
  • Election of directors (two to be elected, for three year terms)
  • Other and new business
  • Adjournment
